Amnesty’s Shine On
When someone we love dies, we look for ways to honour their memory and bring people together.
Shine On has everything you need to host a heartfelt vigil, physically or online.
For the person who stood for human rights or simply made the world a kinder place - this is for them. Keep their values aflame.
By holding a vigil, you’re supporting Amnesty’s human rights work to ignite change around the world.
How it works
If you’re bringing people together virtually, you can download our digital kit for free. You’ll get started with MuchLoved, creating a tribute page in their memory. Family and friends can light personalised candles, share memories, and donate to a movement that meant so much to your person.
For in-person vigils, you have everything you need for an intimate gathering with our in-person vigil kit. Candles, invites, thank you cards, a how-to guide, and a beautiful memory book to collect photos and stories. Get together to remember your loved one and their passion for justice.
Stay in contact with Amnesty International UK to hear about the lasting impact of your vigil. Continue their legacy for years to come.
Why Amnesty?
Peter Benenson, the founder of Amnesty International, said “It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness”
Over sixty years later, we continue to shine a light wherever justice, freedom and dignity are denied.
When you support Amnesty’s Shine On, you contribute to global efforts to protect human rights and build a more compassionate world.
By holding a vigil, you ignite human rights change. It’s the most beautiful tribute for the person who truly lived by their principles and had a strong sense of justice.
